NORTH CAROLINA: HOLIDAYS 2020
Talk about perfect timing. This trip could not have been at a better time. Sweet North Carolina for the holidays during the peak of a COVID-Pandemic. This was the best and easiest way to #StayGrounded
We arrived at our lay over destination in Savannah, GA! There is always such a sweet charm that is felt here. Our first stop was at the Enchanting Wormsloe State Historic Site
So fascinating how these beautiful live oak trees with Spanish moss overlap one another forming an arch almost perfectly. We then took a stroll down one of our favorite scenic destinations which was down the famous E. River St.
We ended our night with a lovely dinner overlooking E. River St. at Huey’s Southern Café. I must say their shrimp and grits is worth the try. Our trip here was short but so sweet.
Arriving at our main destination at the Campfire Lodgings. If you are looking for a grounding, relaxing and in nature experience this is your place.
Although we were so high up the weather was nice and crisp. It was inevitable not to do a family photoshoot and that was a lot of fun and laughter. Ashville was only 15 minutes from our stay. The artistic vibe and sense of community was evident and connecting.
We wrapped up early as we had a lovely hike at Chimney Rock awaiting us the following day. Honestly, that deserves a writing of its own.
What grounding energy and breath-taking views. Be prepared to make a day out of this, you wont regret it. To say the least a hearty dinner was earned after an all-day hike at Texas Roadhouse Grill.
Our day 4 was spent snow tubbing and horse back riding. The kids had a blast, and so did we!
Christmas Eve day was here, and we were excited. Although the weather was not in our favor that did not stop us. We had our day planned to visit the lovely Biltmore Home Estate.
Be prepared to spend an entire day that you will not regret. There was so much to see f in the estate home alone which is massive to say the least, barn area, the workshops, wine cellar, gardens, massive green house and delicious restaurants. We ate at the Stable Café which is neat. It used to be the properties barn and they converted it to a restaurant and kept a lot of the original pieces and finishes.
Oh, and all the deer that wonder the property are the cutest and friendliest!
How does the saying go, it was the night before Christmas day and boy were we in for a surprise? I swear I get still so emotional every time I think back to this magical moment. The expression of the children’s faces was overwhelmed with joy. It was 6:34pm on Christmas Eve and the snow process started.
We woke up to our first ever seen White Christmas.
If I could relive the joy of that very moment, I would. Of course, we all had the matching onesies Christmas morning, and the hot coca in hand, and out the door we went to explore our winter wonderland.
After much fun in the snow, movies and games in our RV the day game to a close. We had an early dinner at the Red Ginger Dim sum & Tapas
Sadly, next day came and it was time to pack up and head home. We left feeling Grounded and Recharged and with so much love for both Georgia and North Carolina.
