We are so excited to introduce our Grounded Girl for the month of February for Groundedco.
We look forward to sharing with you these amazing women in our community that are empowering and inspiring others.
I introduce to you Alana Weinstein founder of I Gotta Girl 4 That a place for women to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. IGG4T is about women supporting women, creating community over competition.
Hi! I’m Alana!
Groundedco: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business?
Alana: I Gotta Girl 4 That (IGG4T) was created when I looked around my personal circle and noticed how many women I knew and wanted to support that were involved in entrepreneurship. I wanted a place for women to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. IGG4T is about women supporting women, creating community over competition.
Groundedco: Where did the idea of launching a podcast come from and why?
Alana: By creating another arm of the brand, I Gotta Girl 4 That has a unique platform to speak with women in business from all over the world. Our tag line is, I Gotta Girl 4 That – where we keep the mean girl era in the rearview mirror! In keeping with the theme of creating community over competition, IGG4T the podcast always asks, “if you could network with 1 person or 1 type of person, who would that be and why?” I love when people put their big dreams out in the universe.
Groundedco: Who has been your greatest inspiration and why?
Alana: My greatest inspiration is my daughter. I want her to know we are only as strong as the support system we create for ourselves. Isn’t the dream to make the world a better place for our children and our children’s children?
Groundedco: What is your favorite way to stay active?
Alana: I love being active in all different climates throughout my life. From the ski slopes, team sports, and CrossFit, to meditation, and yoga I give everything a chance. Currently, I am into leisurely riding my bike and doing yoga in the sunshine.
Groundedco: Why did you start your podcast I Gotta Girl For That? What’s next?
Alana: What is next? Well, that’s the million-dollar question and I hope it comes with that exact paycheck! IGG4T just celebrated its 1-year anniversary and is currently looking for episodic sponsorship. In addition, we are hoping to connect with a likeminded female web developer to make our vision a reality. Besides the backend development, I would love to IGG4T to develop quarterly opportunities to help women become “unstuck” and promote a common language and experience around growth mindset.
Groundedco: What is one or some of the biggest challenges you have had and how have you overcome them?
Alana: Great question. One of my biggest challenges is getting out of my own way. This means a couple of things.
-It means I need to stop trying to control everything and start looking at what opportunities flow and feel natural.
-It also means, I need to take my own advice and make the big asks, for interviews but also within the support system. It’s a work in progress, but hey – there’s progress!
-It also means, listening to your gut. I did a whole episode called “Taking My Own Advice” that was all about this.
Groundedco: What is your favorite thing about having your own Podcast?
Alana: Easy – Connecting with authentic passionate people.
Groundedco: If you could pick any place in the world to be and stay grounded, where would it be and why?
Alana: Well, it’s crazy, but I love being in a busy city. There is something about the anonymity of being a little fish in a big pond that feels grounding to me. Maybe it’s knowing that my thoughts are a minute percentage of what is happening in the world. So, my answer is a park bench in Central Park, having the world move around me.
Groundedco: As an expert in the podcast world, what advice can you give anyone wanting to start their own podcast journey?
Alana: Great advice I was given by a close friend, “Do it scared”. You’re inviting your listeners on your podcast journey. Your journey whether in podcasting or in other aspects of life will start in one place, but the checkpoints, detours, and destination may not be in your original plan. Be vulnerable. Be real. Be you.
Loved this!
Thank You so much Beautiful Soul <3
