The Grounded Girl Interview Series Welcomes Elle Devito Founder of Sugar Boogie

We are so excited to introduce our Grounded Girl for the month of November for Groundedco. Every month we are looking forward to sharing with you these amazing women in our community that are empowering and inspiring others.

I introduce to you Elle Devito founder of Sugar Boogie which is a sweet and colorful tie-dye custom fashion brand.

MEET ELLE

Groundedco: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business?

Elle: My name is Elle De Vito. I am 10 years old and in 5th grade. I own a business called Sugar Boogie. Sugar Boogie is a fashion company that sells tie-dye clothing. Some of the clothes that I sell are shirts, hoodies, crop tops, crop top hoodies, etc. I even did a collaboration with Groundedco and made tie-dye socks.

Groundedco: How do you keep balanced in everyday life with school, family, and your business?

Elle: I keep balanced by finding time to do dance, my schoolwork, and family time. Family time is important to me because when I grow up I won’t have as much time with them as I do now. I feel good when I have family time because I love my family so much. We play games, watch movies, and we get to enjoy nice things.

Groundedco: Who has been your greatest inspiration and why?

Elle:  My greatest inspiration has been my parents. Both of my parents are really creative in what they do. My Dad inspires me because he shows me all the different ways to do art, and my Mom inspires me because she shows me how to stay organized and run my business.

Groundedco: What is your favorite way to stay active?

Elle: I like to dance. Three days a week I work really hard on dancing. I am on the competitive team at my studio. I like to express my feelings and emotions when I dance.

Groundedco: How did you start Sugar Boogie? What is next?

Elle: I started Sugar Boogie with my idea to have a Fashion Company. Every time I would take my dog for a walk with my mom, I would beg her to help me get started. Then, for my tenth birthday, my parents gave me a business launch kit. It included plain white clothing, tie-dye kits, and a portfolio to keep track of my business. My next goal is to create an e-commerce website.

Groundedco: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?

Elle: I enjoy it when people order my clothing. When I deliver the piece of clothing to them it puts a smile on my face because I like seeing them smile. I also enjoy tie-dyeing the clothes and finishing them up.

Groundedco: What is one or some of the biggest challenges you have had and how have you overcome them?

Elle: The biggest challenge has been finding time to run my business. School is the number one priority. I also like to dance and have fun. Once I finish the things that are important, I do my Sugar Boogie work. I enjoy it because I do it while spending time with my family.

Groundedco: If you could pick any place in the world to be and stay grounded, where would it be and why?

Elle: I would choose my parent’s room because it smells good. Also, when nobody is in it, it calms me. I like the style of the room. The bed is cozy, and on a cool day when the windows are open in their room it smells better, feels calming, and is peaceful.

Groundedco: As a young entrepreneur what advice can you give other young entrepreneurs that also want to get their business started?

Elle: I would say to have hope and believe in yourself. Also, if you think you have made a mistake, it’s fine… keep on trying.
